Welcome to 2009

Hi all new and old students and welcome to 2009.
This year looks packed already with hopefully some new an exiting events yet to unfold.
Don't forget that if you think of something cool to do with music or you would like to perform something for the school community, then just catch me sometime and I will see what we can arrange!!!!

Look forward to creating some cool tunes and having some fun enjoying the wonderful world of MUSIC.

A short explanation of Bugling on Remembrance day

The Meaning Of The Bugle Calls

Many young people are mystified by bugle calls on Anzac Day
and Remembrance Day.
For this reason it has been suggested that the meaning
behind these calls is explained.

During the service there will be two bugle calls.
The first is the “Last Post”.

"Last Post" is the call sounded at 10pm each evening to inform
the soldiers that they should be inside their quarters for the night.
It signified the end of the day's activities and ushers in a period of
rest and quietness.
It is sounded at military funerals and commemorative
services to indicate that the soldier has completed his life's
work and has entered into his rest.

The second, following the reading of the Ode, and the
two minutes silence, is “Reveille”.

"Reveille" is the trumpet or bugle call sounded in all military
barracks and camps first thing in the morning to awaken
the soldiers and tell them to get up and dress.
It is also sounded at military funerals and
commemorative services to signify the resurrection
of the body after death and the awakening of
the soul into a new life.

Year 10 2009

I am interested to here what you would like to do next year in elective music. From memory I think that there are only about 14 students so I am hoping to go outside the school a bit more this year as we have a smaller group.

YEAR 10 ARE GOOOOONE!!!

ahhh.... they are gone.

Congratulations on surviving year 10 music, hope you had fun and learned a few things about music and yourselves along the way.
I wish all of you the best for the future and hope that you keep making and listening to music into the future. Feel free to use this site into the future and leave a comment now and then. Remember you are always welcome back for a visit.

I must say that you guys were mostly a pleasure to work with over the year (2 for some of you) and I hope we meet again in the future.

ASSESSMENT FOR YEAR 10

Hello Year 10.

I will be completing your school certificate assessment marks by tuesday, if you have not handed in any assessments that are outstanding you will recieve no marks for those assessments. This will also be reflected in your comments. Don't forget, your report will follow you for the rest of your life so get something to me to mark.

ONLY 5 DAYS to go!!!!

Christmas Carols

Hi Elective Music (Yr 10)

I have found a site with pdf's of christmas carol music for you to download and use.

Please work on your own arrangements and practice for a recording in week 3 & 4 (6 &7 if you want to as well).

Elective music WHITE - COMPOSITIONS DUE TODAY

Hi Music WHITE.

Your work is due in TODAY. If it is not in my email or hand first thing tomorrow morning (15th Oct08) then you will loose 10% for 1 day late.
30% for Friday
60% for Monday
100% Tuesday.

You still must hand me something or you may become eligable for an N award for your school certificate next year. Just get the thing done. You should have seen me today if you needed an extension granted so there should be no one who needs one.

Year 8 Music - 19/9/08

Year 8 ONLINE TASK.

YEAR 3 STORY BOOK or SLIDESHOW.

Using the links about guitar, and your own research, you need to complete the following task.

1. Open a slideshow in Neooffice.
2. Goto FILE - NEW - Slideshow.
3. Use images and simple language that a kid in year 3 could understand to show how the guitar has developed over the years.
4. Start with the earliest versions of a guitar you can find and work forward to the guitars of today.
5. Include details of what changed from each different guitar to the next in simple language or pictures.
6. YOU SHOULD HAVE BETWEEN 5 and 8 SLIDES.

Save your work with each person in your groups names as the title to my USB that will be provided.

Year 7 Keyboard - 19/9/08

Use the links on the right of screen to create a history of the piano.

You have the following options:

Create a slideshow using NEOOFFICE (look for the ship in the application bar at the bottom of the screen like this one)

TASK: Create a powerpoint or word doc showing a brief history of the keyboard for a YEAR 1 class to watch and learn from. You need to use simple words that a 6 yr old can read and understand. Use pictures more than words. Include one famous player of the keyboard from any time in history.
